Commission Research Programme - Invitation to Tender

1. Introduction

The Commission intends to examine best practice in the activities and deployment of nurses and midwives in healthcare internationally. It is hoped that in this way it will be in a position to frame proposals in the Irish situation drawing on such best practice models. Accordingly, the Commission is inviting submissions from interested parties towards the undertaking and completion of four separate pieces of research. Submissions involving some international collaboration will be welcomed.

2. Project Specification

Submissions are sought from competent personnel/organisations to undertake the entire research programme. It is expected that research consortia will have an international dimension or otherwise demonstrate how the international aspect of the work will be undertaken.

3. Timeframe

The Commission is working to a tight timeframe and is due to report by December, 2008. It is envisaged, therefore, that this research will be completed by the 25th. September 2008. A progress report will be required on 13th August, 2008. The timeframe for the research work is set out hereunder:

Closing Date for Submissions 4th July 2008
Decision and Award of Research Project Early July 2008
Research Commences July, 2008
Progress report 13th August, 2008
Final Report 25th September, 2008
