Strategy Statement for the period 2008 – 2010
In accordance with the Public Service Management Act, 1997, each Government Department is required to prepare a new Strategy Statement for the period 2008 – 2010 by mid December.
This Strategy Statement is intended to be a forward-looking document which will serve as a framework for action by this Department over the next 3 years. It should take account of the priorities of the new Government (as outlined in the Programme for Government, National Development Plan, Towards 2016, etc.); the ongoing business of the Department and the modernisation agenda.
The Strategy Statement will include the high level objectives of the Department, the strategies pursued to meet these objectives, the ongoing business of the Department and the legislative and administrative framework within which it operates. The Strategy Statement will include Performance Indicators so that Outcomes can be measured.
Please note: The Department of Health and Children has responsibility for the overall organisational, legislative, policy and financial accountability framework for the health sector. The Health Service Executive is responsible for the management and delivery of health and personal social services within available resources.
