Proposed Health Information Bill

The Department conducted a public consultation exercise on the Health Information Bill. The response was very positive in terms of the number and quality of submissions and the Department wishes to express its appreciation to everyone who took the time to comment. The Department has now prepared a thematic Synopsis document setting out the main points raised.

The Department also organised a major feature on the Health Information Bill at the Annual Healthcare Informatics Society of Ireland. The presentations by Frances Spillane (Assistant Secretary) and Peter Lennon (Legislation Unit) are also available.

As part of its commitment to the consultation process and in line with the philosophy of engaging with individuals in Your Service, Your Say, the Department, in conjunction with the Health Service Executive and the Health Services National Partnership Forum, held a consultative workshop in January 2009. A report on that event is available.
