Proposed Health Information Bill
The Department launched a public consultation exercise on the Health Information Bill in June of this year. The response was very positive in terms of the number and quality of submissions and the Department wishes to express its appreciation to everyone who took the time to comment. The Department has now prepared a thematic Synopsis document setting out the main points raised. (This now includes the submission of the Mental Health Commission which was forwarded on time but not received due to a transmission factor.)
The Department also organised a major feature on the Health Information Bill at this year’s Annual Healthcare Informatics Society of Ireland (19 November). The presentations by Frances Spillane (Assistant Secretary) and Peter Lennon (Legislation Unit) are also available.

As part of its commitment to the consultation process and in line with the philosophy of engaging with individuals in Your Service, Your Say, the Department in conjunction with the Health Service Executive and the Health Services National Partnership Forum, held a consultative workshop on 20th January 2009. A report on that event now available.
