Strategy Development Unit

Responsibilities

  • To promote and lead the development of the National Positive Ageing Strategy.
  • To oversee the implementation of policy on elder abuse, in particular the review of the recommendations of Protecting Our Future: Report of the Working Group on Elder Abuse (2002), in order to inform future policy.
  • To work in partnership with the TILDA Consortium to progress The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).

The National Council on Ageing and Older People (NCAOP)

The National Council on Ageing and Older People was dissolved with effect from 1 September 2009 under the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009.
